    Product description

Bred in ages past to be weapons in the war for Middle-earth, the Great Worms were enormous serpentine creatures, cloaked in scaly skins and possessing a wicked intelligence. Within them was combined the cunning of thinking beings and the ferocity of wild beasts. They had long horns, sharp claws, and a wicked maw of countless teeth. The Dragons' sharp, slitted eyes were ever-vigilant, their sense of smell was keen, and their long bodies grew to sizes unmatched by any other creature that walked the earth. Some were winged, able to soar through the skies and travel great distances like the wind. Others burned with fiery wrath within, spewing conflagrations and death from their outstretched maws at will. And in some cases, such abilities were coupled with terrifying effects... In the last years of the Third Age only a few remained, mostly sequestered in the scorched lands of the Short Moor, far to the north and wedged between the spurred arms of the Grey Mountains. Great was their hunger, and a lust for violence burned ever in their bellies. When word of the riches of Erebor reached their ears, the greatest of the Fire Dragons still living in Middle-earth took flight and rushed south. Smaug was his name; a vast red and gold monster whose malice was matched only by his pride. His coming was like a hurricane of fire; the cities of Dale and Erebor fell swiftly before his unstoppable advance; countless Dwarves and Men were consumed by his flames or torn to pieces by his tooth and claw. The inhabitants had scarcely realised what calamity was coming upon them when they were dead or displaced. Then the Great Dragon, who called himself the Magnificent, took the riches of the Lonely Mountain and settled there to lie coiled upon his hoard. From that time on Erebor became a place of terror, and all around the lands were barren, barren and despoiled; the Desolation of Smaug. Digitally sculpted in exquisite detail by long-time Weta Workshop sculptor Daniel Cockersell, Smaug the Magnificent will make a stunning addition to your Weta Workshop miniature figurine collection. It takes hundreds of hours to design, sculpt, model, shape, and paint the prototype for each new piece of Middle-earth. Whether it’s a replica of a prop, a beautiful environment, or an iconic character, we treat our collectibles with the same level of care and attention to detail that we put into our film work. Note: Images are of a pre-production prototype. Each sculpture is hand painted and small variations will occur. Dimensions: 15 x 20 x 13 cm
