The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey Hobbiton Mill & Bridge Environment 31 x 17 cm

In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit. Bright round doors in summery hues dot the lush grassy hills of Hobbiton like wildflowers. Behind each door, comfortably furnished burrows snake through the land, each home to a hobbit, or a family of the rosy-cheeked little folk of the Shire. Each hobbit hole is unique and expresses the personality of its inhabitants through colors, gardens, furniture and the rustic detritus of everyday life. Across the stream from the Green Dragon Inn in Hobbiton, Ted Sandyman's windmill sits at the water's edge beside a stone bridge. Behind its blue door, gears driven by the constant motion of a waterwheel grind grain into bread, a favorite food no Hobbit accustomed to the comforts of the Shire can do without. This detailed little environment is an accurate miniature replica of the movie set that can be visited at Hobbiton in Matamata, New Zealand. It was designed by the same artists and craftsmen who worked on the movie. Note: This miniature environment was designed and prototyped here at Weta Workshop.
