The process of making a film is often a journey of constant change. One such modified aspect was the helmet worn by the Witch-king during The Return of the King. While this early model was built and even shot, it was ultimately decided that its similarity to Sauron's helmet might be confusing to audiences. As such, it was replaced with the Morgul Lord's Warmask seen in the final cut of the film.
The greatest of the Nazgûl was their leader, the Witch-king of Angmar. Once a mortal man lured by the promise of power, the former King of Men fell under Sauron's sway until he became little more than an extension of the Dark Lord's presence, his identity long forgotten.
A shapeless wraith, fear was his greatest weapon and it was said that by the hand of no man would he fall. For centuries he served his dark master, leading the campaign that saw Arnor destroyed in the north and bringing war to Gondor in the south. Not even being sealed in a magically warded tomb could contain the Witch-king, who was called back from the underworld to serve his master once more.
Each 1:4 scale Helm is made of polystone and is sold in an edition of only 750 pieces.
Accompanying your limited edition helmet: an exclusive behind-the-scenes insert written by Weta Workshop senior concept designer and writer Daniel Falconer, detailing how the film version was brought to the big screen!
