"Combat preparation complete. Start engines. Model information: ABYSS CRAWLER is a third generation HEXA GEAR developed by the Liberty Alliance. It was developed to explore and control blocked terrain such as manholes. Unlike other third-generation HEXA GEARs, it has two Zoatex modes and is characterized by its continuous use of Zoatex. At the start of the war, the cities were attacked by unmanned HEXA GEARs called HIDESTORMs. Further investigations uncovered numerous underground tunnels and gigantic structures from the past that had been used to carry out these attacks. As such, the Liberty Alliance urgently requested a full-scale investigation. However, all information on the geological patterns of these underground structures, other than simple outlines, was lost, and to make matters worse, the areas had already fallen into enemy hands, with HEXA GEAR MSG Valiant Forces and droids roaming the tunnels. The Hidestorms, with their electronic warfare capabilities via their VIC Blades and other weapons, significantly threatened the coordination of the Liberty Alliance from underground by exposing communication lines, repeaters, and power lines that connected the cities. The Liberty Alliance realized the need to reclaim the underground tunnels and hastily developed a HEXA GEAR unit with the express purpose of taking on the task. In developing the unit, the wreckage of the destroyed Hidestorm was salvaged and its chassis was repurposed and reused. However, as there was little prospect of reproducing the capabilities of the VIC Blade, or controlling or disabling it, the next best countermeasure was taken. The result was the creation of the Invasion Counter Shield, commonly known as the ICS, equipped on the left arm of each unit. Due to a chronic shortage of parts, only a small number of these units were produced and subsequently sent into the darkness of the underground tunnels in squads. There were countless underground areas heavily contaminated by the use of crystalline reactors classified as Level 6 - Abyss, where even the worst areas of the surface could hardly hold a candle. Abyss Crawlers made their way through the slime and filth, sometimes engaging Hidestorms, small droids, and other stealth battles.
