Bard the Bowman was the heir of Girion, the last Lord of Dale, and one of the most skilled archers among men. He wielded the ancient sword of Girion and was the keeper of the last Black Arrow of Dale, which he used to slay the great dragon Smaug during the attack on Lake-town. Bard later fought alongside the elves and dwarves against Azog's armies in the Battle of Five Armies. He rallied his forces to lead the main defense against the orcs and trolls within the ruins of ancient Dale, boldly wielding his sword to defeat the enemy. Bard the Bowman's Sword features a hilt with ancient Dale design motifs, a pommel shaped like twin birds' heads, and a leather-wrapped grip embossed with a pattern of overlapping scaled feathers. The blade is adorned with engraved fluting and a runic inscription.
