Glamdring is an exquisite example of the excellence of the Elven sword and a weapon worthy of an Elven king. Gandalf claimed Glamdring for himself and wielded the sword during the quest for Erebor, using it against the Goblins of the Misty Mountains and later in the quest to destroy the One Ring. The great sword remained with Gandalf until the end of his days in Middle-earth.
