Geordi La Forge The VISOR (short for Visual Instrument and Sensory Organ Replacement) was a medical prosthesis used by the Federation to aid those suffering from blindness and visual impairment. It provided users with visual acuity far beyond typical human capabilities, in other spectrums including infrared and ultraviolet. The VISOR, as seen in the TV series Star Trek: The Next Generation and the 1994 film Star Trek: Generations, was worn by the helmsman and later by Chief Engineer Geordi La Forge, played by Levar Burton. Multiple props were produced, with various revisions and modifications made to the design over its long tenure. There was no single definitive VISOR mount. Factory Entertainment's VISOR prop replica was created after careful study of Paramount's archive resources, as well as authenticated props in private collections. The replica aims to capture all the VISOR props as they appeared in seasons 2 through 5 of Star Trek: The Next Generation, in a single, mixed-rendition rendition. The replica's frame is made of aluminum alloy, while the rods and wire mesh are brass. It also features magnetic red neural output pods with accurate red prismatic tape on the screen, with two options: protruding or recessed, as seen on screen in several iterations of the propeller.
