She blends pop culture imagery with her love of sneakers, superheroes, and humor to create images that are all her own. ARTIST STATEMENT: I've always loved the design and colors of sneakers. The bright colors and intricate designs are the same reasons I love comics/superheroes. Plus, there's always a story behind a certain superhero. Their secret origin. The extraordinary story of how a character got their powers. Or the incredible circumstances that led a character to become a superhero. Most sneakers also have their own "secret origin." The process a designer used to achieve the final look of a sneaker. What inspired the look of a shoe. What influenced the use of certain materials or colors. So many things in common that I've always felt the need to explore. These vinyl figures are what I call SHS, aka Super Heroes in Sneakers: two things that meant a lot to me growing up and continue to mean the same to me today. Two completely different cultures came together to create a new vision of things that most people wouldn't normally see together. I've always wondered what shoes my favorite superhero would wear. That's why I wanted to create these illustrations and now DESIGNER TOYS! Born with RETRACTABLE CLAWS and a BERSERKER RAGE, LOGAN, aka WOLVERINE, is a LETHAL KILLING MACHINE and one of my FAVORITE MUTANTS! With his ADAMANTIUM-laced CLAWS, this CANUCK is small in stature but can SLICE AND DICE with the best of them. I've always loved LOGAN's blue and yellow costume because of how bright it was compared to his DARK persona. The bright colors of his outfit always made him stand out. That's why I always imagined LOGAN with BIG HIGH-TOP sneakers in BRIGHT COLORS to match his outfit. But because he's a SAVAGE, his sneakers would pay the price and tend to get CUT like his enemies. I drew LOGAN in a pose that shows off not only his RAZOR-SHARP CLAWS but also his SNEAKERS. He's the BEST at what he does, and what he does BEST isn't very NICE!
