After her adoptive parents discovered her mutant powers, her adoptive father, despite her mother's protests, called the Mutant Control Division. After hearing their argument over this decision, teenage mutant heroine and daughter of Chinese immigrants, Jubilation Lee, questioned why she was becoming a mutant and remembered when she was normal, making it clear that manifesting her mutation was not her fault. Injured, she ran away to an arcade in a mall where a Sentinel robot arrived to capture her.
