Ludens is the icon and mascot of Kojima Productions. He wears a "creative extravehicular activity (EVA) suit" and often carries a flag with the Kojima Productions logo, which is based on Ludens himself. He is prominently featured in a video titled "Kojima Productions Logo Movie," where he walks into the unknown of space and plants the studio's flag on uncharted lunar soil. Yoji Shinkawa was Ludens's lead designer, formulating the mascot's overall design and idiosyncrasies. Ludens's design has a high-tech feel, lending it a nostalgic feel. The surface of his EVA suit features slightly rotating "Turing pattern"-like elements, inspired by the Turing machine.
