E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial is a 1982 science fiction film directed by Steven Spielberg. It was a commercial blockbuster upon its initial release and again when it was re-released in 2002.
Although Spielberg himself described E.T. as "something only a mother could love," the film has been praised by critics, beloved by moviegoers, and has touched audiences around the world for over 40 years.
