Originally published from December 1992 to October 1993, much more than a comic book crossover, The Death of Superman became a milestone in the character's history, with events and changes that still resonate today. Divided into three story arcs, the first tells the story of Superman's fight against the monster that ends with his apparent death. The story has been adapted into many media formats, including books, a video game, and two animated film adaptations (2007 and 2018), as well as inspiring the scripts for TV shows such as Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, Smallville, and the films Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League. Created in 1938 by Joe Shuster and Jerry Siegel and considered by many to be the first superhero, Superman is Kal-El, the last son of the planet Krypton. Sent to Earth as an infant, he was found by a farming couple who raised him, and as an adult, he assumed the identity of journalist Clark Kent. Thanks to the radiation of Earth's solar system, he developed incredible superpowers and became the world's greatest hero. Doomsday was artificially created in the distant past on Krypton by a geneticist named Bertron. Desiring to create the ultimate life form, he and his team sent a child to the planet's surface, where he was instantly killed by the hostile environment and cruel predators. Subsequently, his remains were collected and reused in a cloning method to accelerate his evolution. After decades of forced Enduring agony thousands of times; his uncontrollable deaths were recorded in his genes and caused him to hate all life. Doomsday gained the ability to evolve without the aid of Bertron's technology and began hunting and killing all the deadly creatures inhabiting Krypton. When he saw Bertron, Doomsday deemed him and his team a threat due to their role in many deaths, and attacked the ship they were working on, and all died at the hands of their creation. Inspired by the art and concept developed by Ivan Reis, the official DC Comics illustrator at Chiaroscuro Studios, this is one of the most popular statues ever created by Iron Studios. Originally released as a limited edition in the Battle Diorama 1/6 line in 2016, fans and collectors will now get this version in the Art Scale 1/10 line, with only 750 numbered statues worldwide.
