    Product description

Created in ages past as weapons in the war for Middle-earth, the Great Worms were enormous serpentine creatures, cloaked in scaly skins and possessing a vicious intelligence. Within them, they combined the cunning of thinking beings and the ferocity of wild beasts. They had long horns, sharp claws, and vicious jaws with countless teeth. Dragons' keen, half-closed eyes were ever vigilant, their sense of smell acute, and their long bodies grew to sizes unrivaled by any other creature that walked the earth. Some were winged, capable of taking flight and traveling vast distances like the wind. Others burned with fiery rage, spewing fire and death at will from their outstretched jaws. And in some, these abilities were combined with terrifying effects... In the final years of the Third Age, only a few remained, mostly sequestered in the scorched lands of the Withered Moor, far to the north and trapped in the spurred arms of the Grey Mountains. Great was their hunger, and the desire for violence burned ever in their bellies. When word of Erebor's wealth reached them, the greatest Fire Dragons still roaming Middle-earth took flight and rushed south. Smaug was his name; a huge gold-and-red monster whose malice was matched only by his pride. His coming was like a hurricane of fire; the cities of Dale and Erebor fell swiftly before his irresistible advance; countless Dwarves and Men were consumed by his flames, or torn to pieces by tooth and claw. Scarcely had the inhabitants realized what calamity was befalling them as they died or were displaced. Then the Great Dragon, who called himself the Magnificent, seized the riches of the Lonely Mountain and settled there to lie curled up upon his hoard. From now on, Erebor became a place of terror, and all around the lands became barren, barren, and plundered—the Desolation of Smaug. Digitally sculpted in exquisite detail by longtime Weta Workshop sculptor Daniel Cockersell, Smaug the Magnificent will make a stunning addition to your Weta Workshop miniature statue collection. It takes hundreds of hours to design, sculpt, model, model, and paint the prototype for each new piece of Middle-earth. Whether it's a replica prop, a beautiful environment, or an iconic character, we treat our collectibles with the same level of care and attention to detail we apply to our film work. Note: The images are of a pre-production prototype. Each sculpture is hand-painted and slight variations will occur. Dimensions: 15 x 20 x 13 cm
