The Key of Erebor was designed by concept art director John Howe and created for the film by artists at 3ft 7in Art Department in Wellington, New Zealand.
This replica was cast from molds of the original propeller taken directly from the 3ft 7in art department. It is cast in metal (zinc alloy) and comes on a polyurethane stand.
Large and heavy, it's the kind of key you know would open something important. Like the back door to a lost dwarf kingdom.
The Key of Erebor is part of a series of high-end, authentic replicas from "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey." All were created by artists in the Wellington, New Zealand film community.
