During the production of The Lord of the Rings, Weta Workshop was tasked with helping to lay the very foundation for how Middle-earth would appear on screen. From the grandest of towers to the smallest of Hobbit holes, countless sketches were created detailing every aspect, and while not all concepts made it to the big screen, each piece played an important role in exploring its own world.
For the first time, Weta Workshop is proud to have the opportunity to bring to life a piece of Middle-earth that until now only existed on paper: The Key to Bag End.
It takes hundreds of hours to design, sculpt, model, model, and paint the prototype for each new piece of Middle-earth. Whether it's a prop replica, a beautiful environment, or an iconic character, we treat our collectibles with the same level of care and attention to detail we apply to our film work.
