Passed down through the hands of many notable members of the Targaryen line, its origins date back to ancient times, predating the conquests of Aegon I. Designed with a narrow blade, the sword is intended to inflict swift and critical wounds. Wielded by Daemon Targaryen, it is a much feared weapon. Tim Lewis, master swordsmith of the House of the Dragon, commissioned world-renowned swordsmith Peter Johnsson to craft the Dark Sister hero's original prop. A true master of his craft, Peter is also a historian with an unparalleled knowledge of the ancient art of swordmaking. His experience has imbued Dark Sister with a genuine sense of character and tradition. The Factory Entertainment Dark Sister prop replica was created after careful study of the hero's prop. Our team interviewed both Peter Johnsson and Tim Lewis, who each provided a wealth of previously unseen behind-the-scenes information, including details and photographs of the original prop's construction. We are very grateful for their help and contributions. Each replica was created using traditional techniques similar to the original hero prop, including lost-wax casting. Similar materials, including wood, leather, and metal, were also chosen. To replicate the look of the Damascus steel blade used on the hero prop, the Factory Entertainment team chose to use high-quality En42 spring steel with a chemically etched pattern on the blade.
